Our complete guide to setting up projects in your own school, college or workplace 1. Decide which areas to focus on
2. Set up an Action Team in each area. If you are in a school try to ensure that you have members from each year group; Y.A.C.C teams should be run by young people, but it is useful to have a member of staff attached to each team to help. 3. Draw up an Action Plan for each team. Think carefully about what you would like to achieve, by when and who will be responsible for seeing that it happens. Look at an example of the action plans we are using at Howard of Effingham here (not perfect, but it's a start!). 4. Promote your campaign Look at the News page to find out about our Climate Change Awareness Week. Assemblies, tutor times, noticeboards and your own website or intranet are all good places to start. We also held a Rock Concert to raise awareness and money for renewable projects. One off events such as a Carbon Neutral Day or Week can be great too. 5. Please register on our website and let us know what you are doing. We will happily host a page on our website for you. Please use your contacts to spread our web address and let people know about what we're all doing. 6. Don't forget to use outside help! Our resources page has loads of links and information. The Carbon Trust will provide free energy audits and realistic recommendations for large organisations. The Eco-Schools programme gives you a step by step guide to follow. The recycling department of your local council should give you advice on recycling. For schools they should provide you with collecting bins and collect recyclable waste free of charge. If not, let us know! 7. If you get stuck - send us an email. Someone can probably help. We will shortly be launching a forum where people can share their difficulties and suggestions. We'd also love to know what else you need to make it easy to set up projects in your school, college or organisation. Good luck and please keep in touch!
